Pitfalls for the Practicing Muslim PDF Booklet

From the introduction:

For converts, learning how to gradually grow into an observant, ‘practicing’ Muslim has a host of complex challenges. For those born into Muslim families, the journey towards becoming practicing presents its own set of hurdles. Once practicing, however, both the convert and born Muslim are exposed to the same set of pitfalls or challenges. In an age of endless information, competing voices, and highly conflicting claims to authenticity, it’s all too easy to get confused, fall for unsound methodologies, or unknowingly embrace interpretations which depart from the classical scholarly consensus (ijmaʿ).

It’s these contemporary pitfalls that practicing Muslims can fall into — and the principles that help us avoid them — that this booklet seeks to address. This is not meant to be a scolding, nor a finger wagging, but an encouragement to be grounded, engage in thoughtful reflection, and remain within the safe pastures of the ijmaʿ. I especially loved the mention of convert experiences. I just completed training would be mentors yesterday and that was obviously part of the conversation.

I recently was opened to the idea that the immigrant experience bares striking resemblance in some ways.
